Serve on a Grant Review Committee

Serving on a Grant Review Committee (GRC)  is one of the most impactful ways to participate in Impact100 Sonoma, learn about the nonprofit organizations and needs of our community and experience the grant review process.  
What do Impact100 Sonoma Grant Review Committees do?

Grant Review Committees are established annually for the winter/spring grant review season. Committee members read and review grant applications and participate in a thorough vetting process that leads to recommending finalists to be voted on by the entire membership.

Is there a calendar for the grant review committees? How much time does it take?

To address the urgent needs of our nonprofit community, our grant review season will take place on a shortened timeline this year, from January – April 2022. We anticipate that most meetings will be held in-person, though some may be held via Zoom. Committee members will be expected to devote approximately 15-20 hours of their time to the process. What qualifications do I need?

The basic qualifications to join a Grant Review Committee include:

  • Join Impact100 Sonoma and pay your 2022 membership contribution by December 1, 2021 to ensure your spot on a committee. (Those who pay their 2022 membership contribution between December 1 and January 12 will be put on a committee waiting list.) Click here to make your 2022 membership contribution.
  • Have basic computer skills, home internet access, and Zoom app familiarity. (Zoom training will be available for all Committee members.)
  • Be able to devote the time necessary to fulfill the most important committee obligations during February and March (approximately 15-20 hours).
  • Be prepared to actively participate in discussions and be open to listen to the thoughts and suggestions of others.
  • Demonstrate a desire to ensure members contributions are used wisely and to represent Impact100 Sonoma’s best interests.
  • Find enjoyment working in a group setting with other equally motivated women.

Please note that as part of your registration, you will be required to read and agree to our Impact100 Sonoma Statement of Our Values, Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Policies, and your time commitment as set forth in the 2022 Grant Review Calendar.

What are the next steps?

  • Once you’ve completed your registration, you will receive an email acknowledging its receipt.
  • In December, you’ll receive an email with a link to our updated on-line training content for review before the training and Q&A training session takes place in mid-January.
  • Towards the end of January, you will find out to which committee you’ve been assigned.

What does Impact100 Sonoma’s Financial Review Committee do?

The Financial Review Committee (FRC) is tasked with reviewing the financial documents submitted by the various non-for-profit organizations applying for grants each year. If you have experience in evaluating and analyzing financial statements and budgets, you may want to serve on the Financial Review Committee.
