Become a Telescope Operator at Robert Ferguson Observatory
Share the wonders of the universe with the public! Whether you're a seasoned astronomer or just eager to learn, you'll get hands-on experience and guided education to run our telescopes, navigating the night sky, and inspiring others about the cosmos.
No prior experience? No problem! We’ll train you.
Interested in helping others experience breathtaking views of planets, nebulae, and galaxies? This is it. Be part of an enthusiastic community of stargazers and join us for unforgettable volunteer experience!
Do you have experience? Want to lead or create a class?
There are tons of ways to get involved. Would you like to offer tours of the constellations in the night sky? Would you like to present various astronomical topics to the public or teach a scheduled class? If you're a retired teacher or even a long time enthusiast, this is the place for you to shine.
Greeters and Retail Attendants Needed!
Help create a warm welcome for guests of the observatory! Greeters and retail attendants are the friendly faces that assist with our "Ground Control" operations during events. Roles include welcoming guests at the Kiosk, setting expectations at our Green Gate Greeter station, and assisting customers at our retail store.
There are several positions that keep our events running smoothly, and we’ll help you find the one that fits your interests!
